Medical Forms Have been recieved

I just received notification that my medical forms were received yesterday. This means I am now waiting to hear whether or not I have been chosen for my nomination. It will probably be several weeks to a month before I hear more but I will keep my blog up to date with any new information. One step closer!

New Glasses

I picked up my new pair of glasses today. Now I'm all set for glasses and contacts (I needed 2 pair of glasses to go). One more step completed! Tomorrow I will be picking up my bloodwork so I can send in my medical packet. Hopefully it will be to fed-ex tomorrow, but definitely by Friday. Then it's another waiting game.

Medical Tests almost Complete

I've now had my physical, dental check, and eye measurements. Everything should be sent in about 2 weeks from today as some of my bloodwork an tests will not be ready until then. Everything went well and I'm looking forward to getting everything complete so I can hear about whether or not I will receive the placement I was nominated for. Thanks for checking in!

Rescheduled

Well, blizzard in Fairmont, so no physical or eye exam today. The snow has been beautiful but I'm glad I didn't have to go anywhere in the bad conditions. Several highways were even closed and no school. I rescheduled for Tuesday so hopefully the snow stays away next week!

Medical Tests

Tomorrow I have my eye check and physical. Then I will have my dental check on Monday. As long as everything goes well (there shouldn't be any reason it won't) I will move forward in the process. I will be mailing everything in with backup copies in case anything doesn't make it to Wash. DC. Hoping for the best and that the snow stays away for the day tomorrow. Even though Fairmont schools are already closed, as long as I-90 is open, I'm headed to the doctor!

Blog Number One

I will be updating this blog with information related to my journey to becoming a Peace Corps Volunteer. This will not only be a journal for myself but a way to keep in touch with friends and family (as long as I do eventually become a Peace Corps Volunteer). For the time being, I have been nominated for a K-8 teaching / teacher training position in Eastern Europe which would begin in May 2010. I'm excited to hear more about my potential position in the Peace Corps. I am currently expecting another packet of information from the Peace Corps to complete my physical, dental, and eye checks before hearing more about my acceptance into the Peace Corps. If you would like to see a map of the potential countries I would be placed in, visit peacecorps.gov and click on "where do volunteers go".
